If you’re wondering what Malta’s thriving local music scene is like, the event to go to starts this weekend – The Farsons Great Beer Festival. This annual beer and band bonanza has grown from a three-day event held some years back in a small public garden into a 10-day-long, open-air festival at the Ta’ Qali national park at the centre of Malta. The Beer Festival of course has a large variety of beers available, which, together with the obligatory take-away food stands, go to making it a typical Maltese summer evening event – complete with crowds, noise and kids running around till late. Whether you’re a beer lover or a local music fan, or more typically both, the beer festival is a classic event, and marks another summer in the passing.
